Olympic Park, Big Air & Authentic Eats

We visited the iconic Great Wall of China—but that was just the beginning. With long bus rides and chaotic traffic, our journey unexpectedly turned into an adventure through parts of Beijing we never imagined we’d see. From surprise detours to discovering hidden corners of the city, the day was full of challenges and unforgettable moments. We wrapped it all up with the best hot pot experience ever!

Sea Day on Ovation | Wonderland Dining & Live Shows
Join us for a relaxing sea day aboard Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas! We started with breakfast in the Main Dining Room (MDR), tried our luck in the casino (spoiler: it’s not like other cruise lines!), took a refreshing swim, and enjoyed a mid-day nap. For dinner, we dined in the whimsical Wonderland restaurant — a must-try experience! The evening wrapped up with the energetic “Live Love Legs” show and late-night room service.

$80 DIY Songdo Tour | Incheon Cruise Port Day Trip from Ovation of the Seas
Join us for an unforgettable day in South Korea as we explore Songdo after disembarking from Ovation of the Seas at Incheon Cruise Terminal!
We teamed up with fellow cruisers from our Facebook group for an affordable $80-per-couple shared ride (16 people total) and hit all the best spots:
• Central Park Songdo
• Water taxi tour around the park
• Urban Museum & Character Museum
• Authentic Korean hotel experience
• Delicious traditional Korean hotpot (한국식 냄비 요리)
• And back on board for dinner at Izumi (though we were way too full from lunch!)
This was a full, fun, and culture-packed day — perfect for cruise passengers looking to make the most of their time in Incheon!

Sea Day Surprises on Ovation of the Seas | Redemption Meals, Blackjack & Spectra’s Cabaret!
Sea Day #2 aboard Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas was packed with surprises and second chances! Sorrento’s Pizza and Jamie’s Italian both redeemed themselves after a rough start.
We enjoyed delicious bites at Windjammer, hit the Music Hall for some Blackjack fun, and wrapped up the night at Two70 with Spectra’s Cabaret—an impressive show, though not quite our favorite. Come along as we explore more of this incredible ship!

Japan Cruise Chaos, BBQ Feast & Blackjack | Ovation of the Seas
Join us for a wild port day aboard Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas in Yatsushiro, Japan!
We started with breakfast in the Main Dining Room, then spent 3.5 hours in immigration before finally taking the shuttle into Yatsushiro. There, we found a real izakaya and enjoyed $50 worth of authentic Japanese BBQ—totally worth the wait!
Back on board, we grabbed food from Sorrento’s, had drinks at Amber & Oak, a bite at Chops Grille, and ended the night with a little Blackjack fun (from Mexico to Japan!).

Day 11
Epic Day in Kagoshima! Volcano Views, E-Bikes & Izakaya Fun | Ovation of the Seas Stop
Welcome to Kagoshima, Japan — one of the most scenic and unforgettable port stops on our cruise! In today’s video, we explore the natural beauty and volcanic landscape of Sakurajima, a must-see destination just a short ferry ride from Kagoshima City.
We started our day by taking the Sakurajima Ferry across Kinko Bay for just 500 yen total (about $5 USD). Once we arrived on Sakurajima Island, we rented electric bikes for 1600 yen total (about $14 USD for two people) and spent the day riding along the coast, stopping at some of the island’s top attractions and volcanic viewpoints.
Places we visited on Sakurajima:
• Karasujima Observatory – Offering up-close views of the active volcano and beautiful coastal scenery
• Akamizun View Square – A peaceful park area perfect for a quick rest or photos
• Raccoon Rock – A unique natural rock formation shaped like a raccoon
• Arimura Lava Observatory – Walk through old lava fields and learn about past eruptions
• Sakurajima International Volcanic Sabo Center – Educational and interactive exhibits about volcanic activity and disaster prevention
• Sakurajima Visitor Center – Great for learning the history of the island and its volcanic nature
After a full day of adventure, we took the ferry back and headed to a local Japanese izakaya. It was a truly authentic experience — the owners didn’t speak English but welcomed us warmly. The food was delicious, traditional, and very reasonably priced.
We wrapped up the night back onboard with a luxurious Chef’s Table experience, featuring a five-course gourmet dinner for $200 per couple. It was the perfect ending to a magical day in southern Japan.

Day 12
Cruise Stop in Kōchi, Japan 🇯🇵 | Exploring Castles, Markets & Wan Park
Join us on an unforgettable day in Kōchi, Japan as part of our Ovation of the Seas cruise! We started with a shuttle ride to the bus station, hopped on a tram to visit the iconic Kōchi Castle, then explored the bustling Hirome Market where we found the best Indian food in Japan! After lunch, we grabbed a taxi to Wan Park, then returned via tram and shuttle to our ship.
Back on board, we experienced the incredible Spectra’s Cabaret (tip: sit close for the best view!), enjoyed another round at Izumi, and even had one of our ducks featured on the Cruise Director’s podcast! We ended the night with Darla Fox live at Amber & Oak, and some exciting blackjack in the Music Hall.

Day 13
Final Day on Ovation of the Seas: Wonderland Lunch, Balloon Drop & Farewell Dinner!
Today marks our final day aboard Ovation of the Seas! We kicked things off with a special 11:30 AM lunch at Wonderland, experiencing the Taste of Royal—a curated sampling of the best dishes from Royal Caribbean’s top restaurants across the fleet. After lunch, we finished packing and picked up the rest of our laundry to get ready for disembarkation.
For our last dinner on board, we revisited one of our favorites—Jamie’s Italian—before joining the lively (and knee-punishing!) balloon drop celebration. The night ended perfectly at Schooner Bar, sharing laughs and drinks with our favorite Aussies, Diane and Steve.

Tokyo night out with Nadine Bauer 🇯🇵✨
We just got off Ovation of the Seas and began our epic Japan day! First stop: Rakunyan, a beautiful traditional Japanese villa in Saitama. After settling in, we grabbed a quick bite at Yoshinoya and linked up with our friends @DanielandYuka for an adventure in Kawagoe—a charming city full of Edo-period vibes.
Dinner took us to Ninja Tokyo, where we were joined by TikTok superstar Nadine Bauer and her friend. Afterward, we hit up the legendary Shibuya Crossing and explored some of Tokyo’s vibrant nightlife.
We tried to check out Lost, the bar made famous by @AbroadinJapan and @sharlainjapan , but it was packed! So we capped the night with a late dinner at Seafood BBQ Mekiki No Ginji, hit a Lawson, and called it a night. What. A. Day.
Day 15
From Cruise Ship to Japanese Villa 🇯🇵 | Exploring Kawagoe, Tokyo & TikTok Star Nadine Bauer

Farewell Japan 🇯🇵 | Mister Donut, Railway Museum, Gyoza, Tonkatsu & Big December Announcement!
It’s our final full day in Japan, and we made it count! 🇯🇵
We started with breakfast at the famous Mister Donut, followed by an incredible visit to the Railway Museum in Omiya — a must-see for train lovers and families alike. After that, we grabbed lunch at a cozy gyoza spot near the station.
Back at our villa, we took some time to relax and recharge before heading out for a farewell tonkatsu dinner with our friends Daniel and Yuka.
During tonight’s episode, we shared a special announcement: we’re coming back to Japan in December 2026 to experience the magic of Christmas here — and we couldn’t be more excited!
